Parsippany (population approximately 50,000)
sits at the nexus of several major arteries: Interstates 80, 280, 287
and US Highway 46. Formerly a collection of bungalow colonies
and agricultural concerns, Parsippany is now a choice residential location
for people who enjoy the amenities of suburbia without long commuting times
or outrageous real estate prices. The GWB is about a 30-minute drive,
the Lincoln Tunnel about 45 minutes. Parsippany offers both bus service
via Lakeland Bus Lines, and close-by train service, via NJ Transit to NYC.
Newark is only a 20 minute drive away. Also close in are New Brunswick

Rental Information
Interested in Renting?
Most apartments in Parsippany/Lake Hiawatha are one or two bedrooms,
renting for approximately $1000- $1500. Three bedrooms are rare;
most likely, you’ll have to rent a house in the range of anywhere from
$1400 to $2500 (depending on condition and location). If you’re willing
to walk a mile or more to shul, the price of rentals are on the cheaper end.
In the first half of 2003 the rental market for 3 bedroom apartments and
houses was rather tight, so give yourself time in finding that ideal location.

There is a wide variey of housing stock in the Parsippany/Lake Hiawatha
area ranging from small bungalows to ranch, split, colonial, and tudor
style houses. In addition, there are new townhouses (Hunting Ridge)
and all are found within the eruv. Prices vary with location and
size going from the $200,000s to the $400,000s. Morris county real
estate taxes fall in the middle range in New Jersey.
